Before we had a single moment to grieve, my family was underwater in what is known as “deadmin,” the avalanche of death administration that arrives before you’ve had time to breathe. Death certificates to order, accounts to close, calls to make, forms to file. No one tells you it’s coming. No one helps you through it.<\/p>\n I also sat beside a close family friend through a week of home hospice. I watched what it means to have real presence through a death, and what it costs when you don’t.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.8″ text_font=”||||||||” text_font_size=”16px” text_line_height=”1.8em” text_font_size_tablet=”” text_font_size_phone=”14px” text_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”] My brother’s death cracked something open. Six weeks later I was laid off. Before I had found my footing in the grief, the ground shifted again. I began to see all the losses I had minimized or never named, a second layoff only a year later, health challenges, the grief of a childhood marked by loss that never got to be witnessed. Grief doesn’t only arrive with death. It arrives whenever something we love is gone.<\/p>\n Those experiences are what brought me here. I am the person in the room who stays calm when things get hard steady, present, and genuinely willing to sit in the difficult places without looking for the exit.<\/p>\n Part of this work has opened me to ways of holding death that feel older and wiser than what most of us were given, that life moves in cycles, that grief is communal, that the soul continues. I bring that as depth, not doctrine.<\/p>\n I want to be honest about what this work is and what it isn’t. I’m not here to fix your grief or fast-track your healing. What I will do is show up fully, bear witness to what you’re carrying, and create enough safety that you can actually feel it. Because you can’t heal what you can’t feel. You are the hero of your own story. Grief support sessions are virtual (in person potentially one day) available to clients across the US and internationally. End-of-life doula work is available in person throughout the Denver metro area, and virtually nationwide.<\/span><\/p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Is grief support the same as therapy?” _builder_version=”4.27.6″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” toggle_text_color=”#C4622D” open=”off”] No. Grief support is non-clinical support. I am not a licensed therapist, and our work together is not therapy. What I offer, rooted in the Claire Bidwell Smith Grief & Loss framework (among others), is sustained, compassionate presence, someone who will sit with you in your grief without rushing you, pathologizing you, or handing you a five-stage model and a timeline.<\/p>\n That said, grief support and therapy can absolutely coexist. If you’re working with a therapist, I can work alongside them. If your grief has clinical dimensions, depression, trauma responses, complex PTSD, I will always support you in finding the right clinical care, and we can continue our work in parallel if that feels right.<\/p>[\/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”How do I know if this is right for me?” _builder_version=”4.27.6″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” toggle_text_color=”#C4622D” open=”off”] Fit matters enormously in this work, probably more than credentials or training.
