Before I had a single moment to grieve, I was underwater in what is known as “deadmin,” the avalanche of death administration that arrives before you’ve had time to breathe. Death certificates to order, accounts to close, calls to make, forms to file. No one tells you it’s coming. No one helps you through it.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.6″ text_font=”||||||||” text_font_size=”16px” text_line_height=”1.8em” text_font_size_tablet=”” text_font_size_phone=”14px” text_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n I also sat beside a close family friend through a week of home hospice. I watched what it means to have real presence through a death, and what it costs when you don’t. Those two experiences, and a lifetime of loss going back to childhood, are what brought me here. I became a certified end-of-life doula and grief support provider so that no one in my care has to face either alone.<\/span><\/p>\n I am the person in the room who stays calm when things get hard, steady, present, and genuinely willing to sit in the difficult places without looking for the exit.<\/span><\/p>\n I am also South Asian, and for a while, that was a part of myself I kept at a distance. Returning to my heritage with new eyes, I’ve found a culture that has always known how to hold death. The understanding that life moves in cycles, not a straight line that simply ends. That grief is communal, not private. That the soul continues. These aren’t dogma, they’re wisdom I bring as depth, as a reminder that there are older, wiser ways of being with death than the ones most of us were handed.<\/span><\/p>\n I want to be honest about what this work is and what it isn’t. I’m not here to fix your grief or fast-track your healing. I’m not going to handle you with kid gloves or tell you what you want to hear. What I will do is show up fully, bear witness to what you’re carrying, and create enough safety that you can actually feel it. Because you can’t heal what you can’t feel. You are the hero of your own story. I am not a licensed therapist, and our work together is not therapy. What I offer, rooted in the Claire Bidwell Smith Grief & Loss framework (among others), is sustained, compassionate presence, someone who will sit with you in your grief without rushing you, pathologizing you, or handing you a five-stage model and a timeline.<\/p>\n That said, grief support and therapy can absolutely coexist. If you’re working with a therapist, I can work alongside them.
